Reniss is a multilingual singer and songwriter from Mankon, Cameroon, who grew up in Douala. Reniss has developed a style that combines pop music, traditional African styles, and subject matter that connects with people across cultures.

Performing since she was 16, she sings in French, English, Pidgin and Ngemba. She blends languages and genres effortlessly together, creating a truly original Cameroonian sound. Reniss’ music has been described as “tribal pop”, as she mixes hip hop and electronic dance music with traditional African rhythms and dialects.

Reniss began singing in her church as a teenager, and was quickly made choir leader, due to her natural talent arranging and directing the music program, taking her choir to events across Cameroon. She began working with Cameroon’s top producer, Jovi, in 2010, eventually creating a new, original sound called “Mboko Pop.”

Since 2010, Reniss has released two EPs, Afrikan Luv and Milkish, and her 2016 debut LP “Tendon”. Her hit song “La Sauce” propelled her to international stardom, becoming the anthem for Cameroon’s national football team, in their successful bid to become Champions of the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

She has been featured in Peabody award-winning music publication Afripop Worldwide and award-winning Music Time in Africa on VOA. She has also been featured in music and culture publications around the world including the BBC, Jeune Afrique, Le Monde, Afripop, Je Wanda, and many others.
